Discovery Village, a Community Center, LLC (DVCC) is the collective voice of citizens united to secure the purchase and long-term public stewardship of the 7-acre Discovery Village property in Shady Side, Maryland. We represent the shared interests of recreational and commercial boating, the arts, education, and coastal preservation along the Chesapeake Bay.

We believe this property is irreplaceable. Its shoreline and waters support recreational and commercial boating traditions vital to our community, while its undeveloped character makes it a critical piece of coastal conservation for the Chesapeake Bay region. At the same time, its 30,000+ square foot building holds untapped potential as a hub for the arts, marine education, and community life — from working studios and exhibition space to programs that connect residents of all ages to the Bay.

DVCC advocates for the acquisition of Discovery Village by state or county government, ensuring it is preserved as a permanent public asset rather than lost to private development. Our mission is to guarantee that this land and its resources remain open, protected, and accessible to the public for generations to come.
